Theatre City

2003

401 Richmond St.

CONCEIVED AND CURATED BY Victoria Goring

SITE SPECIFIC THEATRE
Short site-specific plays set in an urban landscape. Theatre in the courtyard, in the hallway, in the washroom…all the building’s a stage! A group of improvisers guide the audience from play to play for a unique theatrical tour.

CONCEIVED AND CURATED BY Victoria Goring

Theatre City 2003 was extremely well received by audiences of all ages. From the improvisers who greeted each audience member to the delight of experiencing actors in such close proximity. Actors would appear from behind you, perhaps sitting next to you, even taking pictures of you! (With warning, of course). The audience was consistently charmed and delighted, with repeat members over the short run.
Creatively, all the plays written exclusively for Theatre City were created specifically for the venue, drawing inspiration from the architectural and geographical detail of the fascinating building. All the writers remarked on this positive experience, all developing or re-mounting these short plays.
Theatre City proved to bring the emerging theatre artists directly to new audiences in a fresh exciting manner. A personal, intimate theatrical experience, Theatre City is especially suited to audience members new to theatre. Theatre City tour can be created in any urban landscape.
